RDF and Police officers briefed for Mozambique peace mission

A contingent of RDF ground forces and Rwanda National Police officers has received guidance ahead of their deployment to Cabo Delgado, Mozambique, where they will replace colleagues currently serving in the peacekeeping mission.

The briefing, held at Kami Military Training School, was led by Maj Gen Vincent Nyakarundi, Commander of Rwanda’s Land Forces, and attended by CP Vincent B. Sano, Deputy Commissioner General of Police in charge of operations.

Maj Gen Nyakarundi delivered a message from President Paul Kagame, Commander‑in‑Chief of the RDF, stressing the importance of discipline, unity, and professionalism. He reminded the officers that their primary duty is to protect civilians from terrorist activities.

He urged them to represent Rwanda with dignity, uphold good conduct, and work together as a cohesive force. The mission in Cabo Delgado has been a critical part of Rwanda’s contribution to regional peace and security, and the new contingent is expected to continue this legacy.
