Rwandan peacekeepers in CAR strengthen ties with diaspora through volleyball

Rwandan peacekeepers serving under the UN mission in CAR (MINUSCA) recently organized a friendly volleyball match with members of the Rwandan community living in the Central African Republic.

The game, held on August 1, 2026, at the RWABATT‑1 camp in M’poko, Bangui, ended with Rwanda’s contingent (RWABATT‑2) winning 3–0. The event was attended by Rwanda’s Ambassador to CAR, Olivier Kayumba, the president of the Rwandan diaspora in CAR, Uwera Mignonne, as well as officers, soldiers, and community members.

According to Rwanda’s Ministry of Defence, the match was more than just sport—it strengthened ties between peacekeepers and the diaspora, promoting unity, cooperation, and patriotism. Such activities highlight the values of solidarity and national pride, while also reinforcing the bond between Rwandan forces abroad and citizens living outside the country.
