Rwandans in Mali celebrate 32 years of Liberation

On Sunday, Rwandans living in Bamako, Mali, joined friends of Rwanda to mark the 32nd anniversary of Liberation.

The event brought together representatives of the Malian government, diplomats, international organizations, and Rwanda’s friends, highlighting the enduring bonds between the two nations.

Madam Traoré Assiata Gaye, Advisor at Mali’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, delivered a message of gratitude from the people and government of Mali. She praised Rwanda’s remarkable progress since Liberation, particularly in unity, peace, good governance, and socio‑economic development. She also emphasized the strong ties between Mali and Rwanda, noting their shared vision of finding African solutions to African challenges and strengthening South‑South cooperation.

On behalf of the Rwandan community in Mali, Alida Faraya, President of the Rwandan Diaspora, paid tribute to the men and women who fought in the Liberation struggle. She highlighted their courage, patriotism, and sacrifice, stressing that their legacy continues to inspire current and future generations. Faraya underscored that the values of resilience, unity, accountability, and service to the nation remain pillars of Rwanda’s sustainable development.
