Pogacar wins historic 5th Tour de France

Slovenian cyclist Tadej Pogacar, riding for UAE Emirates‑XRG, has claimed victory in the Tour de France 2026, becoming one of the rare riders to win the race five times.

This achievement places him alongside legends Jacques Anquetil, Eddy Merckx, Bernard Hinault, and Miguel Indurain, who each hold five titles.

The final stage in Paris was won by Dutchman Mathieu Van der Poel of Alpecin‑Premier Tech, who out‑sprinted the peloton after a tough climb on Montmartre’s cobblestones. He was followed by Jasper Philipsen and Mads Pedersen, the Green Jersey holder.

Although Pogacar did not win the last stage, his overall dominance secured the yellow jersey. He finished ahead of Belgian Remco Evenepoel of Red Bull‑Bora Hansgrohe and teammate Isaac Del Toro, who took third place.

French riders Paul Seixas and Lenny Martinez also made history by finishing in the top five, the first time since 2014 that two Frenchmen achieved this feat, and only the third time in the 21st century.

The final stage was shortened due to wildfires in Gironde and Landes, but the race still delivered drama, with Pogacar and Van der Poel showcasing their strength before the Dutchman sprinted to victory.
