Health authorities in Canada and Mexico have announced that during the 2026 FIFA World Cup, fans will be able to access free condoms and receive sexual health counseling at stadiums, fan zones, and medical centers.
In Toronto, condoms will be distributed with playful football-themed slogans such as “Stop those shots,” “What a goal,” and “Oooooh Canada.” The initiative is designed to encourage safe sex practices among fans.
Meanwhile, in Mexico, cities hosting matches. Mexico City, Guadalajara, and Monterrey plan to distribute between 6–7 million condoms over the course of the tournament. These will be available in bars, hotels, airports, stadiums, and other public spaces.
Before receiving condoms, fans will also be offered advice on preventing sexually transmitted infections such as HIV/AIDS, syphilis, gonorrhea, and hepatitis.
Unlike the Olympic Games, where athletes themselves are provided condoms, the World Cup initiative will focus only on fans and the general public.
