On Sunday, May 24, 2026, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed solidarity with U.S. President Donald Trump following the attempted shooting near the White House the previous night.

Posting on X, Netanyahu wrote: “I am glad President Donald Trump, Israel’s true friend, is safe. The attacker was neutralized before causing further harm.”

He added: “Violence and repeated attempts to assassinate President Trump must be condemned by everyone.”

On May 23, six shots were fired near the White House by Nasire Best, 21.Secret Service agents engaged in a firefight, killing Best. Trump was inside the White House and unharmed. Residents nearby were placed under lockdown during the incident.

Since Trump’s return to office in 2024, there have been four armed attempts on his life. The most recent before this was on April 25, 2026, when an armed man opened fire at a hotel hosting a White House press dinner.
