President Kagame meets Gen Muhoozi in Kigali

On July 25, 2026, President Paul Kagame received Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, Commander of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) and Senior Advisor to President Yoweri Museveni, for high‑level talks in Kigali.

Gen Muhoozi was welcomed at Kigali International Airport by Rwanda’s Chief of Defence Staff, Gen Mubarakh Muganga, before heading to Village Urugwiro for discussions with President Kagame. Their meeting focused on reinforcing bilateral cooperation, particularly in areas of security, peace, and regional stability.

This visit comes as Rwanda and Uganda continue to strengthen ties, emphasizing trust and collaboration to promote sustainable development in the Great Lakes region. It follows Muhoozi’s earlier trip in March 2025, when he visited the Nyakinama Military Academy in Musanze District.
