President Paul Kagame has approved a major restructuring within the Rwanda Correctional Service (RCS), involving dismissals, retirements, and promotions across the institution.
According to the official RCS statement, six senior officers, thirteen junior officers, and 277 non‑commissioned officers and warders have been dismissed. This marks one of the most significant personnel changes in the service in recent years, signaling a strong emphasis on discipline and accountability.
Promotions Across Ranks
Alongside dismissals, hundreds of officers were promoted. These include:
- 46 Superintendents elevated to Senior Superintendent
- 37 Chief Inspectors promoted to Superintendent
- 18 Inspectors promoted to Chief Inspector
- 10 Assistant Inspectors promoted to Inspector
- 188 Senior Sergeants promoted to Chief Sergeant
- 67 Sergeants promoted to Senior Sergeant
- 48 Corporals promoted to Sergeant
- 328 Warders promoted to Corporal
