The armed group AFC/M23 announced that 10 civilians were killed in overnight assaults carried out by fighters from the FDLR and Wazalendo militias in Masisi and Walikale territories, North Kivu, DRC.
According to spokesperson Lawrence Kanyuka, the attacks occurred around 10 PM on May 24, 2026.
Breakdown of the Attacks
Malemo: 7 civilians killed, 3 seriously injured. Kalembe: 3 civilians killed, 9 injured, village chief abducted. Bweru: livestock looted 11 cows and several pigs stolen.
Kanyuka accused the Kinshasa government of continuing to collaborate with the FDLR, claiming this alliance fuels insecurity and civilian suffering in eastern Congo.
