President Paul Kagame commended the Rwanda National Police (RNP) for 25 years of dedicated service, highlighting their professionalism, sacrifice, and role in ensuring peace and security for citizens.

The remarks were made during a ceremony at PTS Gishari where 436 junior officers (including 109 women) graduated and were commissioned as Assistant Inspectors of Police (AIP).

Rwanda National Police founded in June 2000 by merging the Gendarmerie Nationale, Commune Police, and Judicial Police Inspectors.

In his message, president Paul Kagame praised police for their resilience and contribution to national peace. Urged officers to uphold integrity, reject corruption, and adapt to evolving security threats. Emphasized humility, professionalism, and community trust as pillars of policing.

Officers trained not only in technical skills but also in values of patriotism, discipline, and service to citizens.

“We all share the will to work together in protecting our security and development. Security threats are evolving, crimes are becoming complex and cross‑border. Police must keep pace with these changes.”

“Training was not only about professional skills but also about values. We expect you to reject corruption, be wise in decision‑making, and fulfill your duties properly.”

The 25th anniversary served as a moment of self‑assessment and reaffirmation of values guiding the RNP. Kagame stressed that professionalism and humility will strengthen public trust and ensure continued success.
