In Busigali cell of Cyanzarwe sector, Rubavu District, residents gathered with joy and gratitude as new water tanks were officially inaugurated. The project, a collaboration between Rotary International, Hand in Hand for development, Aqua Virunga and the Rubavu District.
For years, families in Busigali walked long distances to fetch water, often from unsafe sources. The new water tanks now guarantee: Reliable access to clean water close to home. Reduced travel time, allowing residents to focus on education, work, and family. Better health outcomes, with fewer risks of waterborne diseases.
Alongside the tanks, sanitation supplies were distributed to households across different villages in Busigali. These materials will help families maintain hygiene and strengthen the fight against preventable illnesses.
Community members expressed heartfelt appreciation, noting how their daily lives will be transformed. One resident shared: “We no longer spend hours fetching water.”
Citizens praised the government and partners for continuously thinking of them and reducing the burdens they once faced.
Leaders from Rotary Club urged residents to use the new infrastructure responsibly, make the most of the sanitation supplies, and promote a culture of hygiene that benefits the entire community.
