opposition on tshisekedi

On Monday, June 8, 2026, Congolese opposition leader Delly Sesanga spoke during a Space session on X hosted by journalist Stanis Bujakera, addressing the postponement of a lawsuit planned by the C64 coalition against President Félix Tshisekedi.

Sesanga declared that the opposition holds “a bomb” of evidence, claiming that C64 has gathered extensive documentation proving attempts to undermine the Constitution’s Article 64, which obliges citizens to resist any leader seeking to overthrow constitutional order. He explained: “We have more evidence than expected, because state offices and institutions under Tshisekedi breathe and speak.”

According to Sesanga, the coalition is working on strengthening its case to demonstrate what it calls “serious betrayal.” However, C64 has not yet specified which court will receive the lawsuit.

In a statement released the same day, C64 announced that it was postponing the filing of its complaint to incorporate new evidence and documents recently collected. The coalition reaffirmed its commitment to defending Article 64 and resisting what it describes as unconstitutional maneuvers.

This development reflects the tense political climate in the DRC, where opposition groups accuse the government of attempting to consolidate power beyond constitutional limits.
