PL party mourns president Hon. Donatille Mukabalisa

The Parti Libéral (PL) has expressed deep condolences following the passing of its president, Hon. Donatille Mukabalisa, who died on July 30, 2026, at King Faisal Hospital.

Mukabalisa, who previously served as Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies, had been leading PL since 2016.

In its statement, the party said:

“The leadership of PL is saddened to inform its members and Rwandans that our president, Mukabalisa Donatille, passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2026, due to illness. We extend our condolences to her family, PL members, Parliament, colleagues, Rwandans, and all who knew her.”

Her political journey began in October 2003 when she was elected as a Deputy, serving until 2008. She later became a Senator (2011–2013) before returning to the Chamber of Deputies in 2013, where she led the institution until 2024.

Mukabalisa’s leadership in PL, a party founded in 1991, was marked by her commitment to dialogue, unity, and democratic values. Her passing leaves a significant gap in Rwanda’s political landscape, with tributes pouring in from colleagues and citizens alike.
