On May 28, 2026, Rwandan peacekeepers serving under the United Nations Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA) delivered free medical services to 68 inmates at Bria Prison in Haute‑Kotto province.

Medical teams involved: Rwanda Level 2 Hospital and RWABG VIII contingent.

Services provided: General medicine, Dental care, Eye treatment, Skin disease treatment, and Free medication was distributed to all patients.

Lt Col Dr Isaiah Nzayisenga, Deputy Commander of Rwanda Level 2 Hospital: “This initiative helps prisoners who often struggle to access healthcare. Medical care is essential, especially for those living in difficult conditions.”

Mahamai Adoum Salle, Bria Prison Director: praised Rwanda’s soldiers for repeatedly offering free treatment and medicine, reducing the burden on inmates.

Ponombo Felix, Haute‑Kotto health inspector: highlighted the prison’s severe lack of medical facilities and welcomed Rwanda’s support.
