On Thursday, 28 May 2026, Uganda’s Deputy Inspector General of Police James Ocaya urged officers to apply the skills gained during a three‑week joint SWAT training held at the Mayange Counter‑Terrorism Training Centre in Rwanda.
He emphasized that combating terrorism and serious crime requires regional and international cooperation.

Kenya
Rwanda, Uganda, Tanzania, Liberia, Seychelles and Central African Republic
He called on officers to implement their training in real operations against terrorism and organized crime.Ocaya’s Message. He stressed that regional solidarity is key to advancing security across Africa.
The training reflects EAPCCO’s commitment to joint counter‑terrorism capacity building. It also strengthens interoperability among police forces in East and Central Africa.
